Gosh......this makes me just tremble inside to hear of such saddness of a great man; and such a great loss to loose such a gentle man of integrity, a deepened heart for others; portrayed through his intellect of academics of loving God. So sorry for the loss....but what a wonderful man to be remembered...some memories are worth kindling for a life time...these sort of academic giants should be honored forever.........what a Gift he was for many I'm sure.....hummmm....

So sad to hear this news! Dr. Scholer was one of my favorite professors as well, and "Women, the Bible, and the Church" was a great course.

The "celebration" you walked in on was a regular weekly occurrence. (Every Monday at 3)

I'm hoping that the practice (which has been lying in limbo ever since the Scholers retired a few months ago, and the rest of us on staff entered into a crazy summer schedule) returns this Fall, although I have my doubts. The Scholers were truly special, and their sense of hospitality is just one evidence of this.

I was never able to take one of his classes either -- he usually became ill and took his Women, the Bible and Ministry class off the rolls. But I'm so grateful for the work he did for the whole Church. I've read some of his articles about women and ministry and all I can say is Amen! My prayers go out to his family as they grieve.

Oh my, I hadn't heard the news about his death yet. How sad.

He was one of the two most influential professors I had at Fuller. He will be missed.
