After reading your blog I looked at my wife and said we have to do this. As a pastor planting a church this is a great way for my family to get to know our community! Thanks for the idea and for sharing. The Kingdom of God can be so simple at times and that is refreshing.
Grace and Peace!

Walking and observing can do wonders overseas too among the billion desperately poor urban slum dwellers in the Third World.

After spending the last 15 years walking around cities in the developing world and seeing the American missionary force up close I think helping quite a few of them meet their poor neighbors would do some good.

Just walking about in the right places with eyes open can shake things up.

More life giving and realistic theologies? Less silly and destructive politics and economics? Maybe a better evangelical church?

May it be so. Here's to urban treks and meandering off trail :^)

Reading your blog today reminded me of my childhood. We were always outside in the evenings, relaxing, playing with the other kids in the neighborhood, and the whole neighborhood was out there - including many of the adults - so we knew everyone for several blocks around. Here's hoping all that meandering brings beautiful birth soon!

Even though I didn't really want to get out of bed to do so this morning, this is part of why I've enjoyed having a dog that requires very regular long walks - and if she were allowed, Zoe would prefer her walks to strictly be of the meandering variety. Maybe she should join the nightly Haub outing! But I like that it gets me out to notice the cool morning air, or a beautiful sunset and I like that I know my neighborhood - the people, the cars, the houses, the trees. And of course, the dogs. Enjoy your outings. We'll gladly join you if you want to add to the spectacle.

I love it! Let's start a revolution of meandering around our neighborhoods. Why do we try to make things so complicated?
