This speaks to us really where we live, even those of us who do are not going through such a catastrophe.

I love this sentence ... "But I can testify with certainty that there are significant riverbeds of progress and joy that wind through my soul as a result of Ann Goldingay." Add two more of us to the number. I am sincerely unsure how I and a fellow pastor-friend could have kept living without our very timely discovery of Dr. Goldingay’s most unusual insight into Scripture (found at his Fuller Web site). Although we have not known the Goldingays personally, we cross-referenced Walk On (a marvelous book) and understood even from our distance that Dr. Goldingay's ability to speak into our circumstances was a direct function of his experience with his wife.

We are forever grateful that she paid the price of her discipleship because she stands tall in a very small group of fellow believers who have worked for our comfort and edification, instead of harm. Her direct contribution to our ministry is, without a doubt, one of the greatest gifts we have ever received. All of life changed after our discovery of that one inspired paper in particular – it had been night and suddenly it was day. Her name has been written on our hearts since that dawning and always will be. I take enormous pleasure in thinking of her restored perfectly, body and soul, and I look forward to the day when I can tell her face to face that I love her for the way she blessed us in a dark hour.

Thanks, Jeff. It was fun to hear from Doug about the class, and I loved all the Yoder and Bonhoeffer quotations he was throwing around the week before. Look forward to our paths crossing some time!

Erika - Douglas actually shared Ann's testimony to the Christian Ethics class just this week during our discussion of Euthanasia. I have used John Goldingay's texts in classes in the past but never knew the fuller context of his life nor the incredible testimony that his life was for so many students at Fuller. Thanks for stewarding this gift of Ann's legacy.

B"H

Hey Erika,

How kind and thoughtful of you to write such a nice post to honor and celebrate the life of Ann Goldingay. All too often only the famous and reknown in our midst get any recognition or respect. The great unspoken truth of the matter is that without loving spouses and a cast of unseen supporters and friends most of the heros we applaud would not have been able to do their work as well, if at all.

I join you in prayer although I never knew our dear sister Ann. I recognize the blessing of GOD in your life through her and I give thanks.
